Keep Your Chalk Off My Wheels Dude!

I'm a TCO (traffic control officer) in the village of East Hampton and I live here year round. I probably have tons of stories i could post on here but one comes to mind right now. One day at work I was marking Newtown Ln.  (otherwise known as Newton Lane by the tourists) and I marked the tire of a Mercedes. The owner proceeded to come up to me and the conversations went like this....

Owner: "Did you have to do that? I just paid $20 for a car wash."

Me: "Yes I did have to mark your tire"

Owner: "That's ridiculous who told you to mark it?"

Me: "My supervisor"

Owner: "Well that's BS"

At this point I just walked away because I couldn't believe he yelled at me for marking his tire with removable chalk. Aren't your tires made to get dirty?

  2. Is it true that TCO's can't arrest people? What would of happened if the man shoved you? It is comical in a sad sort of way, of how much nerve people have to ticket agents and TCO? I believe ticket agent's can arrest you, but i'm not 100% sure. Like always, keep your chin up, summers almost over and you"ll be getting your town back! :)

  3. I believe the TCO has the authority to put a dead sea turtle under your bonnet.

  4. I have to say I have lived here all my life....but Im with the guy TCO's think they have so much power, and I have never seen them do anything but chalk tires and talk to each other as people are breaking all traffic laws. The chalk that is put on stays on your tires way to long I hate driving around with chalk all on my tires its annoying.

  5. TCO's can't arrest and can't pull people over for breaking any traffic laws. The chalk goes on the tread of the tire and wears off after you drive about twenty feet. So quite bitching about it.
