iPad Leads to iHex On Our Marriage

I have to say that in all the time that I have gone out to montauk the bake shoppe was the best! So when my husband and I decided to get married in Montauk it was only natural that we had the Bake Shoppe make our wedding cake. After meeting the owners for our consultation I couldn't have been more happy and excited that they were going to make the cake of my dreams!

The day before our wedding my husband went to the bake shoppe for some treats and asked about the cake. With a surprised look on his face the owner said one minute, walked away and came back with the original receipt with the $500 cash deposit attached to it. He told my husband that it was being worked on and it was to early to look at it. (I'll give them that since it was the day before).

Well our day was finally here, I couldn't wait to see the cake it was the only thing we couldn't see till the day of.

WELL I saw the cake and it honestly disappointed me greatly. Apparently the surprised look on the owner's face when my husband asked about it was because they completely forgot about it. It looked thrown together. I wish I had the pictures with me to post. It looked like a kindergarten class had put it together and that's being nice.

In all the cost of the cake was $990 dollars for 65 people. I was not even worth the deposit that was left. My husband and I went to the back shoppe the next day to discuss it with them and to my surprise they were so rude. (I was actually told by the restaurant we were married in that they are known for that).

I simply didn't feel the cake they presented was worth the $990 we had paid and wanted to see how they were going to take care of this. Well I was greeted with yelling, cursing and being blamed for their employees not being paid if I didn't pay full price for the cake etc...

She said the cake left fine and it all must have happened after it was delivered. The owner even said she had pictures of it on her iPad. Well when we looked at the pictures and I took her iPad and zoomed in on them she was clearly able to see what we were talking about.

She gave me my check back and only took the deposit as payment, which after their treatment was too much. She rudely told me she wishes us nothing but unhappiness and an ill marriage and to go F ourselves.

Nice customer service!!!!!!!

I have never walked into the shoppe again and am very happy 7-11 came to town!!!!! They now get all my coffee business. Gurney's bake shoppe would be my recommendation.

Old Montauk continues to fade away

I would just like to make a comment on the beautiful south shore of Long Island. When I was a child my mom and dad took me out to Amagansett and we stayed in Gansett green (over 40 years ago).

Over the years I have gone out to Montauk multiple times every year. Realized years ago that "the Hamptons" is not the place for me. Love the small town feel of Montauk and respect the natural beauty and therefore the year round residents wanting to keep it the way it has been for years and years.

I have stayed in many different hotels in montauk. Recently the Montauk Yacht Club (which I have stayed many times) did a complete renovation. After the renovation, the rates went up by approx. 300%

A room now costs $600 per night.

This is ridiculous and what I believe will be the reason why this resort will only have rude, "entitled" guests to stay at this resort. Not that all people who can afford to spend$600 per night for a room are rude, but I believe this marks the downfall of the beautiful Montauk area if average hard working people can not enjoy this area.

I don't know if I have explained myself correctly, but I am not one to write such comments, so my fingers are beginning to cramp up.

Hoping to enjoy many more relaxing times out in Montauk, but no longer at the Montauk Yacht Club.

Tossing Salad at the Lobster Roll

My brother works at the Lobster Roll north side, and he gets all of the winners.

There was a family who was (I'm assuming) from the Hamptons or city. They were very loud, very rude and thought they were Gods gift to this world.

This woman (the mother) orders a ceaser salad. Ok easy. My brother brings it out for her with the dressing on the side in a cup like she asked for. She starts to flip out because the salad dressing is not mixed throughout the salad so she sends it back.

Another salad comes out with the dressing mixed in and she flips out again because "there was more dressing on the salad then was in the cup."

So my brother gets a new undressed salad beings the dressing over, she pours her desired amount on and then makes my brother toss the salad till it was perfect.

After they left he found out they stiffed him.

A$$holes.

Montauk Monster Returns

At our beach, near Ditch (the public beach) throwing a stick in the surf for our lab to go fetch and a rude dog and its owner walk by and the little rat kept barking, "YAP-YAP-YAP" and nipping at my dogs legs.

Oh course the lab only has eyes for the stick and ignored him.

A beautiful day and I have to listen to this ugl...y noise and avoid this excuse for a dog.

The owner kept walking down the beach and saw what her dog was doing, but did nothing!

Finally after the dog kept coming back to nip and YAP some more, I waved my arms and said, "Shoo,  GET!"

She comes back and says, "don't hit my dog with that stick"

"Really! I'm just trying to teach him some manners... "

She says "he's just trying to be social."

She really thought her dog biting and YAAPing was social behavior?????

Then she walks off and shoots me the bird like we're on the highway... where do these aggressive people come from???

Naked and Seen at Gurney's Inn

I was enjoying a nice Christmas Eve dinner at Gurney's Inn while at a another table sat a large party with two young children.

Please note I've raised two children personally and I like kids, but....

When the father proceeded to change the little girl into her pajamas at the table in the restaurant down to her diapers I thought that was crossing the line. I realize children are no longer seen and not heard, but simply leaving the dining room to change clothes would be something simple and easy.

Ocean Cellphone Tip

I'm sitting on the beach in Montauk at Gurney's Inn and along comes a woman on her cell phone. She proceeds to stand in front of me blocking my view of the ocean. I understand the beach is free and people can sit and go where they please.

What was so moronic about all of this is she starts yelling into her phone, "I can't hear you, the waves are too loud!"

Here's an idea, walk away from the ocean you citidiot!

May they be bitten by an army of ants

My family and a large group of our friends made our 3rd annual trip to Montauk (I know, not exactly the Hamptons) and observed some less than considerate behavior.

We were staying at the Royal Atlantic and watched a group of roughly 15 people pick up hotel lounge chairs, and like a well orchestrated army of ants, transport them down to the beach on their backs, in their arms , etc.

As they clogged up the entrance to the beach they could be heard commenting, "We're probably not supposed to bring these down to the beach but I saw some down here yesterday and they were back by the pool this morning."

Later on, and as I expected, most of the group marched back up to the hotel and left their Great Wall of Chairs on the beach. While a few members of the group lingered on the beach nearby, they watched two staff members make about 15 trips back and forth to the beach in 90 degree plus heat and humidity (as told to me by one of the women in my group that happened to be on her balcony overlooking the beach).
